Colombo::A fifteen-member team from the National Defence College (NDC) of India visited the SLN Headquarters in Colombo on 09th September 2013. The team was headed by Dr. Kheya Bhattacharya and comprised of officers from Afghanistan, Egypt, India, Nepal and Uganda.
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage briefed the visiting team on the contribution made by the Sri Lanka Navy for the safety and security of the Indian Ocean and its Sea Lines of Communication. He also emphasized the collaborative efforts required to ensure the stability of the Indian Ocean Region and the peaceful coexistence of the member states.
The head of the team and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy also held cordial discussions on matters of mutual interests and exchanged mementos as a gesture of goodwill to mark the occasion.
The Indian defence team, comprising 06 Brigadiers, 01 Commodore, 02 Air Commodores, 02 Colonels, 01 Brigadier General, 01 Captain and 02 civilian officials, are in Sri Lanka from 08th to 12th September as a part of their strategic neighborhood tour facilitated by the Sri Lanka Navy.
