Home for the Feeding of the Poor and the Candle Lighting Hall at Kochchikade St. Anthony's Shrine declared open!

Colombo::The Home for the Feeding of the Poor and the Candle Lighting Hall at St. Anthony's Shrine in Kochchikade were blessed by Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith and declared open by First Lady Madam Shiranthi Wickremasinghe Rajapaksa on 11th May 2013. Secretary of Defence, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Chairperson of the MOD Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, Director General Operation of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera and Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe were also among those who graced the occasion.
 
The Home for the Feeding of the Poor, "The Soup Kitchen", was a generous donation from the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua. The Candle Lighting Hall was constructed with the assistance rendered by the Sri Lanka Navy. Both are built on the land gifted by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority under the direction of the Secretary of Defence. To coincide with the events, First Lady donated a generator for the use of the much-revered shrine.
