Workshops on Reconciliation & Leadership Building Begin in Wanni!

Sri Lanka::Launching a revival programme of education in the Wanni sector, a multifaceted national project for reconciliation and restructuring of educational programmes kicked off in Wanni, following directions given by Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni in coordination with the authorities of the Department of Education in Vavuniya.

All units of the Ministry of Education that deal with advisory instructions, peace building, subject parallel guidelines, together with Kolonnawa Terrence N De Silva Maha Vidyalaya and Mannar Siththi Vinayagar Hindu National School held this two-day long revival programme with the objective of enriching children with virtues, values and better social qualities.

The programme that covered 541, 542 and 543 Brigade Headquarters under 54 Division in Mannar trained those children for leadership training, exchange programmes, understanding of cultural differences, etc. A large number of teachers both Tamil and Sinhala attended those workshops.

The inaugural ceremony in Mannar took place on Saturday and consisted of several valuable lectures. Brigadier M.A.M Dias, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division attended the occasion.

Meanwhile, the same programme for promotion of reconciliation kicked off at Kovilkulam Vidyalaya and Madu Sinhala Vidyalaya separately on the same day.
