அமெரிக்கா காங்கிரஸின் மத்திய கிழக்கு மற்றும் தென்ஆசியாவுக்கான உபகுழு தலைவர் உட்பட்ட குழுவினர், நேற்று முன்தினம் யாழ்ப்பாணம் சென்று திரும்பியுள்ளார்
இதன்போது அவர், யாழ்ப்பாண இராணுவ கட்டளை தளபதி மஹிந்த ஹத்துருசிங்கவை சந்தித்து கலந்துரையாடியுள்ளார்
இதன்போது அவருக்கு யாழ்ப்பாண பாதுகாப்பு நிலைமைகள் தொடர்பில் யாழ்ப்பாண கட்டளை தளபதி விளக்கமளித்துள்ளார்.
இதனையடுத்து யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் தற்போது இடம்பெற்று வரும் அபிவிருத்தி பணிகள் குறித்து அமரிக்காவின் காங்கிரஸ் குழுவினர் திருப்தி வெளியிட்டுள்ளனர்.

US Congressman visits Jaffna!
Chairman, Subcommittee on middle East and South Asia, US House of Representative (Congressman) Mr. Steven Joseph Chabot during his one day visit to Jaffna on Wednesday (28) called on Commander Security Force - Jaffna Major Genaral Mahinda Hathurusinghe who briefed about prevailing security situation and other development activities taking place in post - conflict Jaffna.
Commander SF-J having received visiting US Congressman and the retinue, presented a detailed account on recently concluded resettlement programme and accelerated De-mining process in the peninsula.
During the cordial meeting, Major General Hathurusinghe explained them about government's development programmes and Army's involvement in Community project while ensuring security of Jaffna and the people. Members expressed their satisfaction about ongoing development in Jaffna.
Before they left for Colombo Mr. Steven Joseph Chabot and team members visited several places in Jaffna and met representatives of different societies.
Staff Director subcommittee on Middle East and South Asia, US House of representative, Washington D.C., Mr. Kevin William Pitzpatrick, Chief of Political Affairs, US Embassy, Dr. Paul carter, Political Officer, US Embassy, Mr. Jacob Chriqui were among the other team members.
