Exercise Cormorant strike - VI begins!

Exercise - Cormorant strike VI -2015" the Field Training Exercise (FTX) organized by the Sri Lanka Army, started off for the 6th consecutive year with the participation of Sri Lanka tri-forces and 53 foreign participants at Kokilai in the Eastern region yesterday morning (03rd Thursday, September 2015).
 
The introductory meeting was conducted at the Operational Headquarters at Minneriya yesterday morning and foreign participants from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan and the US were enlightened about the exercise during the occasion.
More than 2500 infantrymen including commandos and special forces of the Sri Lanka Army, 245 Naval and 140 Air Force personnel are taking part alongside their foreign counterparts at the annual joint exercise.
 
According to army sources the Exercise will train the participants on patrolling, infiltration and exfiltration, reconnaissance and surveillance, combat tracking, link-up, caches, demolitions, raids, ambushes, cut-off and blocks, rescue missions, cat Sniping, urban fighting and disaster relief missions.
 
The Exercise commenced from South of Kokilai and North of Panama will come to a close on 22nd September (2015) with a display on the following day (23rd September) at Punnakuda.
Major General Maithri Dias acts as the Exercise Director and Brigadier HHASPK Senarathne will command the 'Exercise - Cormorant Strike V1 - 2015'. Commodore Ravindra Tissera and Wing Commander Deshapriya De Silva will command the Navy and Air Force participants respectively.
