இலங்கை::பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் நகர அபிவிருத்தி அமைச்சின் உத்தியோக பூர்வ இணையத்தளமான defence.lk மைக்ரோ சொப்ட் நிறுவனத்துடன் இணைந்து வின்டோஸ் 8 வாடிக்கையாளர்களுக்கு defence.lk இணைய சேவையை இலவசமாக தரவிறக்கம் செய்யும் வசதியை இன்று கொழும்பு மிலோதா நிலையத்தில் இடம் பெற்ற ஒரு நிகழ்வில் வைத்து அறிமுகம் செய்துள்ளது.
இலங்கை பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் நகர அபிவிருத்தி அமைச்சின் உத்தியோக பூர்வ இணையத்தளமான defence.lk யானது உலகலாவிய ரீதியில் அதிகமான வாசகர்களை கொண்டுள்ளதுடன் மனிதாபிமான செயற்பாடுகள் இடம்பெற்ற காலகட்டத்தில் மில்லியன் கணக்கான வாசகர்களால் பார்வையிடப்பட்டமையும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும்.
இவ் இலவச சேவையை வின்டோஸ் 8 பயன்படுத்தப்படும் கணனிகள் மற்றும் தொலைபேசிகளினூடாக பெற்றுக் கொள்ள முடியும்.
பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் நகர அபிவிருத்தி அமைச்சின் செயலாளர் திரு கோடாபய ராஜபக்ஷ அவர்களின் வழிகாட்டலின் கீழ் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள இச் சேவையானது அமைச்சின் மேலதிக செயலாளர் (தொழிநுட்பம்) திரு. ரொஹான் செனவிரத்னவினதும் இராணுவத்தின் தொண்டர் படைப் பிரிவின் தளபதி மேஜர் ஜெனரல் பிரசாத் சமரசிங்கவினதும் நேரடி கண்கானிப்பின் கீழும் செயற்படுத்தப்பட்டமை குறிப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும்.

defence.lk!! defence news on Microsoft Windows 8!!
The official website of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development in collaboration with Microsoft Sri Lanka officially launched the country's first defence related news application for Windows 8 connected devices at a ceremony held at the Miloda Center in Colombo (05th December).
As the premiere website for defence and urban development related news in the Island the defence.lk draws in a huge internet audience from around the world. During the Humanitarian Operations it drew in millions of hits a day.
Microsoft Sri Lanka, working closely with the MoD & UD contributed to the national service by voluntarily coming forward to provide this unique feature in their latest product - Windows 8.
This ground-breaking venture will enable users of PC and mobile versions of Windows 8 based applications to receive news published on www. defence.lk directly to their devices free of charge.
The application can be downloaded for free from the Windows app store.
The project was carried out under the blessings and guidance of Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa. It was completed under the supervision of the Additional Secretary (Technical) of MoD & UD Mr. Rohan Seneviratne and Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and advisor to the defence.lk Major General Prasad Samarasinghe.
Now anyone around the world using Windows 8 can get the latest news on Sri Lanka's defence, post war development, reconciliation, urban development and other issues of important on their PCs, tabs or mobile phone devices free of charge by just clicking in a tile in their screens.
Speaking at the ceremony Major General Samarasinghe appreciated the pivotal role of Microsoft Sri Lanka in making this national endeavor a reality and also said it will no doubt be appreciated by all. He thanked all those involved in the project for their dedication in making this project a success.
Brigadier K R P Rowel, Chief Signal Officer, Brigadier N M Hettiarchchi, Signal Brigade Commander, Colonel RD Karunarathna, Communications Advisor at the MoD & UD, Microsoft Sri Lanka representatives Imran Vilcassim, Thareendra Kalpage, Velinton Perera, Madushanka Dias, tri forces and police officers were also present at the occasion.
