Troops of the 6 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) repaired 10 tractors, 11 trailers, 3 trailers Bowsers, 2 Ambulances of several Divisions and Brigades of the Security Force Headquarters-Mullattivu (SFHQ-MLT) within a short period of time, at the request of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander of (SFHQ-MLT) On Monday (29).
Major General Jagath Dias appreciated the commitment of the Commanding Officer of 6SLEME, officers, other ranks, some of who were from the newly recruited Tamil Soldiers who supported to complete this task within 3 months reducing heavy cost generally made for such purpose.
Those heavy vehicles and ambulances which have been serving those areas for the last 4-5 years needed an overhaul plus a complete repair due to their overused nature in view of the requirement in those remote areas. Some of those vehicles have also been used for public work on request due to lack of such facilities.
These newly repaired vehicles were distributed to respective divisions and Brigades by the Commander, SFHQ (MLT) during a brief ceremony.
