Colombo::Torrential rains that lasted in Jaffna during the past few days caused
inconvenience to a large section of the populace in several areas of the
Jaffna peninsula, prompting the Army troops serving the Security Force
Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) to provide immediate relief and
alternative solutions to floods.
On the directions of the new Jaffna Commander, all Division, Brigade and Battalion troops using heavy machinery enabled water to recede and made arrangements to evacuate some families to safer areas.
Army troops also provided cooked meals to some families in response to their requests.
